- The EEU has created a Community Engagement Inventory that captures a snapshot of how UTM’s academic and non-academic units engaged the external community over the 2017-18 academic year. Activity records can be organized by unit, thematic content, and demographics reached within the community, allowing UTM to define its current strengths and identify areas for improvement. The Inventory is scheduled to be mobilized online for the general public in 2019.

A partnership with the City of Mississauga for The Work of Wind was formed in winter 2017, including primary collaboration with the Culture Division and Environment Division (Climate Change Action Project), and support from Transportation and Works, Parks & Recreation, Forestry, Corporate Communications, and MiWay. In order to effectively execute the project, the Blackwood Gallery lead a series of subcommittees with staff representatives from UTM, the City and the Blackwood. Committees included Marketing and Communication, Transportation, Event Infrastructure and Logistics, Health, Safety, and Risk Management, and Volunteers. This structure enabled the Blackwood to leverage University and City resources in service of shared goals. The committees also allowed the Blackwood to build meaningful partnerships between individuals and departments across University and City, and to support knowledge sharing, professional development, and inter-organizational learning.
